What’s up, Prepster!
A 39-second sample, spoken in an AI version of Kalyan’s voice: a welcome and a quick lesson on the Pythagorean theorem.
What’s up, Prepster! I’m Kaly, your Prepmedians AI tutor.
Picture a right triangle with legs of 3 and 4. How long is the hypotenuse? That is the side opposite the right angle, and the longest side. Basically, the triangle’s overachiever.
Just like you learned in Back to Righty, . That is the Pythagorean theorem. a and b are the legs; c is the hypotenuse.
Square the legs and add: .
So, is the answer 25? Not quite. That is . Take the square root, and the hypotenuse is 5: .
There you go. If a step feels confusing, ask me to slow down. We can work through it together.
COME FOR THE TEST TIPS. STAY FOR THE JOKES.
Learn the concept through comedy and rap. Pause, replay, and make it yours.

Why is “returned back” wrong? It sounds normal to me.
You hear it in conversation all the time! But “returned” already means “went back.” Adding “back” repeats the idea.
Same meaning. Fewer words. That’s concision.
I got −2 and −3. Where did I go wrong?
Check the sign of b. In x² − 5x + 6 = 0, b = −5. The formula starts with −b, so −(−5) becomes +5.
Use + to get 3 and − to get 2. You can check both in the original equation.
Your quiz report shows what you got right and what to review. Revisit the lesson, work through the explanations, and retry the question set.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
The jokes and lyrics teach real SAT® and ACT® concepts. Students then apply what they’ve learned in targeted practice with detailed explanations and tutor support. Here’s the learning research behind that approach.
A meta-analysis of 225 undergraduate STEM studies found stronger exam performance with active learning than with traditional lectures. Active learning involves participation and putting concepts to work.
Freeman et al., PNAS (2014)In a study of 508 college students, humorous examples tied to concepts improved recall of those concepts six weeks later.
Kaplan & Pascoe, Journal of Educational Psychology (1977)In a small randomized study of 32 children ages 9–11, those who heard a word list sung recalled more words than those who heard it spoken, including after a 15-minute delay.
Knott & Thaut, Frontiers in Education (2018)Yes. You can talk to the AI tutor, hear its responses, and ask follow-up questions as you work through the material. You can also type questions and read explanations. AI help is included 24/7.
Human help is included, too. For additional help with a course question, request a response from a 99th-percentile expert through support chat.
Use the course’s targeted quizzes to build skills, then set aside time for full-length practice and review in your study plan.
SAT®: Take full-length digital practice tests in College Board’s free Bluebook app. Our SAT® practice-test link takes you to Bluebook.
ACT®: Our practice-test resources include paper tests and links to free online ACT® practice from ACT. Choose the format that matches your test day.
Students can add a parent’s email to share completed quiz reports. See the questions answered correctly and the ones that need review, then use full-length practice tests to check progress toward the student’s score goal.

Follow a 2- to 24-week study plan with lessons, practice, and review arranged around your timeline. After a quiz, use your report to identify questions to review, revisit the lesson, and retry the question set.
A useful starting rhythm is 45 to 60 minutes a day, 4 to 5 days a week. Adjust for your starting point, test date, and schedule. You can pause a lesson and return when you have time.

MEET YOUR HOST
After 5,000+ hours of tutoring, Kalyan noticed something: students could recite entire songs but struggled to remember a formula. So he brought his two worlds together.
A Yale grad with a perfect ACT® score, he built Prepmedians around one simple belief: all students deserve to laugh and learn.
Kalyan Ray-MazumderFounder, CEO & your host
I realized the deep need for Prepmedians while working in New York City as a professional actor and tutoring the SAT®/ACT® for 5,000+ hours, eventually charging $500/hour as the #1 tutor in a company of 250+ expert tutors. I had just graduated magna cum laude from Yale with a degree in Theater and Psychology, and I found that bringing my actor's toolkit into the classroom helped students realize they were far more capable than they believed.
I kept seeing students who couldn't memorize the quadratic formula but could effortlessly recite Drake lyrics. So I asked myself: "Why not fuse education and entertainment?"
I taught the quadratic formula to the tune of Drake's Hotline Bling (you can watch it above) to give students a memorable way to practice it. Bringing music into a lesson became part of my teaching approach.
I knew I had to build a course that would bring this teaching approach to students beyond my private tutoring sessions, especially because most families can’t afford $10K+ for private tutoring.
Thus, Prepmedians was born.
Prepmedians was founded upon one key principle: "All students deserve to laugh and learn."
Every student’s starting point, goals, and study time are different. Read our student stories to hear individual experiences with Prepmedians.
I built Prepmedians to bring my teaching to more students, with lessons, practice, and support in one place.
I can't wait to guide you on your Prepmedians journey.
Stop leaving points on the table.
GO CRUSH IT, PREPSTER!
Kalyan earned his BA magna cum laude from Yale in Theater and Psychology and his MBA with high honors as a Wallman Scholar at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
The ACT® + SAT® bundle includes both complete courses with the second course 50% off. You get lessons, practice, and study plans for both tests in one place.
Try an official SAT® practice test and an official ACT® practice test. Compare your scores with the official concordance tables and consider which test’s pacing feels better to you. Our full FAQ walks you through it. Preparing for both? Explore the ACT® + SAT® bundle.
Students filling gaps, working on timing, fitting prep around a busy schedule, or aiming for a top score. You can start with the foundations if you’re new to prep or focus on skills that haven’t clicked in another program. For help with a school subject, explore our individual academic courses.
Free practice from the test makers is useful, and we encourage students to use it. Prepmedians adds a complete course around that practice: comedy and rap video lessons, study plans, thousands of targeted questions, AI explanations, and human expert help. Try the sample lesson to see whether this teaching style helps the material click.
Yes. Lessons, quizzes, dashboards, and study plans work on phones, tablets, and computers. Your progress syncs across devices, so you can pick up where you left off.
